Mother Therenthia Hatcher

Mother Therenthia Hatcher, lovingly known as Mother Hatcher, departed this life on October 25, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was born on July 3, 1927, in Philadelphia, the city that remained both her birthplace and her home throughout the span of a long and meaningful life.

Mother Hatcher will be remembered with deep reverence and abiding love. A high school graduate, she carried herself with dignity and purpose, and she came to be known as The Mother of Holy Ghost Headquarters, a role that speaks to the place she held in the lives of many. Her presence offered strength, constancy, and care, and her name became one spoken with affection and honor.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Theodore and Laura Murray, whose memory remained part of the foundation from which her life was built.

Her legacy continues richly through her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Mark A. Hatcher, Sr., and her daughters, Charlotte Conway, Renda Young, Vivian Shears, Therenthia Boddie, Mary Hatcher, Martha Sander, Faith Harris, and Colleen Elum and her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren.  In their lives, and in the lives touched through them, her love endures. The bond of family was one of the enduring blessings of her life, and those who knew Mother Hatcher will remember the warmth, strength, and devotion she extended to those she called her own.

Family and friends are invited to gather for Mother Hatcher’s Viewing on November 8, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Holy Ghost Headquarters @ (The M.E.T), 858 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130. Mother Hatcher’s Homegoing will follow that same evening, November 8, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., also at Holy Ghost Headquarters @ (The M.E.T), 858 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130. Her interment will take place on November 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Rolling Green Memorial Park, 1008 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19381.

Mother Therenthia Hatcher’s life was one of endurance, grace, and lasting influence. She leaves behind a treasured memory and a legacy of love that will continue to live in the hearts of her family, her community, and all who were blessed to know her.
