Ruby L Steppe

Ruby L Steppe, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away in Philadelphia on September 13, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in Philadelphia on January 22, 1936, she lived a long life rooted in the city of her birth, carrying herself with quiet strength and enduring grace.

Ruby was a high school graduate and devoted her working life to serving others as an in-home caregiver. That calling reflected a life marked by compassion, patience, and a steady willingness to care for those in need. Her work stood as an extension of the qualities that defined her: tenderness, responsibility, and a generous heart.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Moon, and her mother, Lola Cureton. Their memory remained part of the foundation from which her life unfolded.

Ruby’s greatest legacy lives on in her family. She is survived by her sons, Lawrence Steppe and Edward Steppe; her daughters, Dawn Steppe, Darlene Steppe, Debroah Steppe, and Makeeka Steppe; her brothers, Herbert Steppe and Herbert Steppe, Jr.; and her sisters, Francine Steppe, Barbara Steppe, and Lesie Steppe. In their lives, and in the bonds they shared with her, her presence will continue to be deeply felt. She leaves behind a family circle that carries forward her name, her memory, and the lasting impression of her love.

A memorial service honoring Ruby’s life will be held on September 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Chelten Hills Cemetery, 1701 Washington Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19138.

Ruby L Steppe will be remembered with love, gratitude, and respect. Her life was one of care and family, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
