Mildred
Perry
Nov 17, 1927 — Feb 15, 2021
Philadelphia
Mildred Perry, 93, of Philadelphia, Pa, passed away on February 15, 2021, of natural causes.
Mildred was born on November 17, 1927, to Ernest Woods and Ellie Mae Green in Emanuel County, She was a proud member of the Cross and Green community. She was a Matriarch in her community (Church, family, etc.) and people relied on her for guidance and support.
Although she never completed her formal education, due to having to work in the fields to help take care of her parents and sibling, he had the wisdom and knowledge surpassing even Mensa members.
She worked several different jobs outside of the home. But her major job, which she took pride in, was being a mother to her nine children, which she did until the very end.
In 1940ish, she met Frank Sidney Cross, and they wed shortly thereafter, from their union they had three children. After her divorce from Frank Sidney Cross, she met and married Frank Perry, and from their union they had six children (She loved her FRANKS).
She was a fantastic and dedicated mother. She filled her home with the aroma of homemade biscuits/good food as well as warmth and kindness. She was an avid word puzzle enthusiast and was fascinated with clouds. She fantasized about one day "going on one to Glory!!" She took her Salvation seriously and wanted to be ready when she was called "Home!!" I think we can safely say that she accomplished that goal!! She will miss her greatly.
She was predeceased by her parents; Ernest and Ellie Mae; Three siblings, James Woods, Charles Woods, and Susana Kirkland; Four children, Frank, Joseph, Alvin, and Dorothy; Two Grandchildren, Alvin Jermaine Perry and Melissa; Two Great-grandchildren, Tymir Singleton and Ciani Perry.
She is survived by five children: Christine, Horace, Larry, Joel, and Samuel(Val); 8 siblings, 16 grandchildren, and host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, niece/nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends (Especially, Acie and Nel Gay).
