Mary Elizabeth Lunsford, 89, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 17, 1937, in Abbeville, South Carolina, Mary devoted her life to service and community, ultimately making her home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

As a dedicated social worker with the Philadelphia Corporation of Aging, Mary's compassion touched countless lives. Her commitment extended beyond her profession through active participation at Open Door Baptist Church, where she contributed to the Pastor’s Aide, Mother’s Committee, Trustee Committee, and Building Fund Committee.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband Arthur Lunsford, Mary leaves behind a cherished legacy through her daughters, Vonnetta Hammond and Arlene Lunsford. She was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren and a great-grandmother who brought her immense joy.

Mary’s spirit of dedication also shone brightly in her involvement with the Order of the Eastern Star, Nora Taylor #57 Chapter. She is fondly remembered alongside her siblings, Margaretta Williams, Joseph, Donald, and Janie, all of whom predeceased her.

A life marked by love, faith, and service, the memory of Mary Elizabeth Lunsford will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
