Obituary

Julia Burdette Taylor was born on March 31, 1943 in Philadelphia to Sidney and Essie Greendowe.
She was born to humble beginnings but she always excelled in academics.  Julia attended school in Philadelphia public schools in South Philadelphia graduating from Edward Bok Votectional High School.  Julia later married George Taylor in 1966 and they welcomed two
children: Rosalind and Jama. Julia worked several jobs and went to school evenings earning her Bachelor's Degree from Temple University
and later her Master's Degree in Special Education from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) .

Julia not only excelled in academics but she was also musically inclined playing the flute and piano. She was a member of Shiloh Temple COGIC
for many years and later attended West Oak Lane COGIC. As an educator in Philadelphia Public Schools Julia worked in special education before
transitioning to early education teaching kindergarten and first grade. She taught in elementary schools most recently at Pennypacker Elementary
School before retiring in 2004.

In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, crochet, performing in a senior band playing the flute, and spoiling her children and grandchildren
who she loved dearly. Julia is survived by her brother, Harry Lundy, Sr., two children, Rosalind Sheppard and Jamil Taylor, a son-in law, Clifford
Sheppard and four grandchildren, Brooklyn, Andrew, Taylor, and Amber.
