Delores E. Plowden, born on August 3, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 30, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Delores will be remembered as a devoted woman whose life was rooted in family and in the steady work she gave to those around her. She worked as an operator at a clothing company, a role that reflected her commitment, diligence, and quiet strength. Her life was one of perseverance and care, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Smith; her father, Willie Gretton; and her mother, Eleanor Phillips.

Delores leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward with gratitude and affection. She is survived by her sons, Andre Smith Sr. and Johnny Smith, and by her daughters, Debra Smith, Ava Nichols, and Alice Smith. In their love for her, and in the bond they share with one another, her legacy continues. She will be remembered with tenderness by her children, whose lives were shaped by her enduring presence, and whose memories of her will remain a lasting blessing.

Family and friends are invited to gather for Delores’s viewing on November 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church - West, 230 W. Coulter Street, Philadelphia, PA 19144. A Celebration of Life will follow from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the same location. Interment will take place that day from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Northwood Cemetery, 1501 Haines St, Philadelphia, PA 19126.
