Bryan Thomas
Barr
Jul 9, 1969 — Apr 7, 2021
|
Bryan Thomas Barr was born on July 9, 1969, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Linda Barr and the late Thomas Barr.
He was educated in the Philadelphia public school system, graduating from Dobbins Technical High where he studied Business Administration. His love for the arts and entertainment industry led him to enroll into the Art Institute of Philadelphia where he graduated with an Associate degree. Bryan then went on to pursue his ambitions in that field by participating in a plethora of theatrical and film productions.
Bryan's career included working at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Temple University, The Art Sanctuary, Pier 40 and lastly, Parkway Corporation. Bryan became the proud father of Edwin Aponte on June 19, 1987 and shared an unbreakable bond with Jonathan Ortiz whom he called his son too.
Bryan met the love of his life, Delia Alameda, on a warm summer day in August of 1994. She and "Bear", as she affectionately called him, went on created many memories together that were built on unconditional love for 27 years.
Bryan was vocal about his love for all kinds of music, as to where he criticized today's music and reference to "complete garbage'' and "trash". That passion led him to become a DJ where he shared "real good music" with anyone that would listen. He loved Karaoke and would sing for hours entertaining his friends and family, whether on a cruise or just chilling at home. You would never feel out of place around Bryan because his persona was so warm and welcoming.
Competitive by nature, Bryan was always up for a good debate. Especially about sports and music. Being a Philadelphia native, he would back the Eagles and the Sixers in any given situation. Being culturally diverse allowed Bryan to give his educated opinion on many forms of art.
Bryan enjoyed traveling to places near or far, loved playing golf with the fellas who affectionately called him "B" and had such a love of comics, he'd even name his pets after characters. He loved a good stand-up comedy and in his own sense of humor, was always looking for a way to make you laugh. He loved spending time with family and friends and had a lovable spirit with an infectious smile that would light up a room.
A heart of gold, he enjoyed talking to the younger generation about his past mistakes and encouraged them to continue to make smart decisions. He was quick to lend a helping hand and always had a knack for innovation. You would never feel "out of place" around him because his persona was so warm and welcoming. Bryan lived life to the fullest without any hesitations.
On February 26, 2021, Bryan suffered a massive heart attack. He battled until God called him home on April 7, 2021. Bryan's loving spirit will be carried through his family and friends. He will be missed immensely.
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8, KJV
Bryan is survived by his wife, (Delia Alameda); his mother, (Linda Barr); two sons: (Edwin and Jonathan); one sister, (Lynette); one brother, (Jamal); grandparents: (Deacon and Deaconess Alfred and Eleanor Hill); as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lovingly & Prayerfully Submitted, The Family
